Recently, GN Separation supplied its 22-inch bowl GNLWS554 3 Phase Decanter Centrifuge to a client in the United States for an oil sludge treatment project. This model, part of GN’s three-phase decanter centrifuge series, is designed to separate oil, water, and solids efficiently in a single continuous process.
The GNLWS554 is equipped with a large capacity bowl and optimised conveyor structure, enabling it to handle high-volume oil sludge with variable solid content. Its differential speed can be adjusted according to feed characteristics to achieve precise separation. For oil sludge treatment, the centrifuge can recover oil with low moisture content while producing drier solids, reducing overall disposal cost and environmental impact.

The equipment operates with a bowl diameter of 550mm (22 inches) and a bowl length of 2310mm, delivering high G-force for improved clarification and dewatering performance. In the USA project, it is integrated into a process line treating tank bottom sludge and refinery waste, providing reliable oil recovery and water reuse.
Compared to conventional separation methods such as chemical treatment and static settling tanks, the GN 3 phase decanter centrifuge offers a compact footprint with continuous operation and reduced manual handling. Its bowl and conveyor are made of duplex stainless steel to resist corrosion from aggressive sludge materials, while the wear-prone areas are protected by tungsten carbide tiles, extending operational life and reducing maintenance downtime.

The unit supplied was tested and stocked at GN’s factory inventory before shipment, and photos taken prior to delivery show the robust build and assembly quality.
This delivery marks another step in GN Separation’s expansion in the North American market for oil sludge and environmental waste treatment solutions.
