GN Solids Control is pleased to announce the application of its 2 Phase Disc Stack Separator for seaweed slurry separation in Southeast Asia. The equipment is designed to efficiently remove fine solid particles from liquid and produce clarified liquid for downstream processing.

2026.09.15 Seaweed slurry separation disc separator

Compared with a decanter centrifuge, the GN 2 Phase Disc Separator provides significantly higher centrifugal force, reaching up to 12,000 G, while a decanter centrifuge generally operates at around 3,000 G. The high rotational speed and centrifugal force provide excellent clarification performance and improve the quality of the separated liquid.

The material enters the separator bowl through the feed pipe and is smoothly accelerated in the distribution chamber until synchronized with the rotating bowl. Inside the bowl, the disc stack divides the material into multiple thin layers, creating a large effective clarification area. Under high centrifugal force, fine solids move toward the bowl wall and are collected in the solid discharge chamber, while clarified liquid is continuously discharged.

2026.09.15 Two phase disc stack separator

The 2 Phase Disc Separator is suitable for applications with relatively low solid content and small particle sizes. Typically, the solids concentration should be below 3%, preferably around 1%. For higher-solids applications, a decanter centrifuge or other pretreatment equipment can be used before disc separation.
